A remarkable double standard in sports

It’s a remarkable double standard in most sports. One day they are against gambling, and the next day, they sign significant sponsorship agreements with gambling companies.

Even if you want to protect yourself from seeing this type of advertising, it is impossible. The advertising can be seen everywhere, on match shirts, as sponsor signs in and around stadiums, and as sponsors of television shows.

Many have fallen into gambling addiction due to betting on sporting events. Gaming companies are finding new ways to present attractive offers to get more people to sign up and play. Many people are attracted to but rarely read the rules in the fine print.

Complicated to find a way out

If you have tendencies towards addiction, it is complicated to change your behaviour. Once you’ve fallen into the trap and can’t get out, it’s hard to get help. Only a fraction dare to seek help. For many, it can end very badly.

Ending up in a mountain of debt can quickly escalate uncontrollably once you’ve lost control. If you are addicted, you think it will be solved if you win money. Therefore, most people continue to gamble in the hope of winning money to pay off the debts they have incurred. It’s an equation that doesn’t usually end well.

When the addiction has reached such a point that money cannot be obtained, close relatives will also be affected. If the abuser is put in a vulnerable position where there is no way out, family and friends could become involved as a third party.

As I wrote earlier, the victim will find it very difficult to get out of the situation the person has put themselves in. Some dare to ask for help and seek professional help and advice on how to find a way out of the mountain of debt.

Enforce a ban on advertising!

One proposed solution is to ban advertising for gambling and casino activities. If the companies do not receive the same attention, it will be difficult for betting firms to attract new customers.

If a ban on advertising is introduced, the people who have managed to get out of the addiction will not have advertising on their faces every time they watch a sporting event.
